Nordic Adoption Days - September 30 - October 1, 2011 in Stockholm

Nordic Adoption Council (NAC) is arranging Nordic Adoption Days in Stockholm September 30 - October 1, 2011 . The theme is "Nordic Adoption Approach - Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow"

This time we will focus on racism and discrimination and how this affect adoptive families and their children in the Nordic countries.

The main part of the conference is open to the public.

Nordic Adoption Council is an umbrella association of 15 Nordic adoption organisations and is arranging the Nordic Adoption Days every other year - a conference where the public and all interested professionals and others are welcome. This year the conference will be arranged in Stockholm, at  Quality Hotel Globe near the Globe Arena in the south of Stockholm. Conference language is English.

The program will include lectures and discussions about the history of inter country adoptions in the Nordic countries, racism and discrimination and how this affects adoptive families and their children, and also the future of inter country adoptions and how our partners in the children's countries of origin look upon the Nordic Adoption Approach.

Excerpts from the program:

Cecilia Lindgren, historian from the University of Linköping, specializing in the history of inter-country adoptions to Sweden

Barbara Yngvesson, professor of anthropology from Boston, Mass. (USA)
