Norfil Foundation has launched a book on foster care “The Blueprints of Family Love : A Collection of Foster Care Stories" in order to further promote family-based alternative care. The booklet contains ten stories of the plight of anbandoned and neglected children finding shelter in the families and hearts of licensed foster parents.
The book launch was held on December 3 and was attended by representatives from Department of Social Welfare and Development, Association of Child Caring Agencies in the Philippines, and representatives from the Senate and House of Representatives. The event was also attended by 80 participants from child caring agencies and other government organisations. The booklet specifically aims to: Convince local government units and other NGOs to develop their own Foster Care Program; advocate for the passage of the Foster Care Bill in the Philippines which has been pending in Congress; educate the public about the situation of children needing alternative care and increase the number of foster families; and support the DSWD Policy on the de-institutionalization of children.
